JUDGING EXAM

 

June 9-12, 2012

 

The next JE shall be held on June 11& 12 during the 2012 NPGA National Convention in Fort Worth, Texas. The Judges Clinic, which is required for ALL JE Candidates, will be held on June 9 & 10. Anyone who wants to learn more about how Pygmy Goats are judged may attend and observe and help handle goats. Please contact the Convention host to find out more details on how you may assist. Candidates for judging licenses must (1) be an NPGA member in good standing; (2) be at least 18 years of age; (3) be on time and attend the Judging Clinic and the JE in its entirety. All candidates must pre-register with the JTC Chair, Kevin Kress, on or before may 28, 2012.

 

Written Test

The written Test includes true-false, fill in the blank, multiple choice, diagrams, the fault matrix, information regarding showmanship, wethers, does and bucks. To be a candidate you must pass the written exam on or before MAY 21, 2012. A candidate must arrange a time and place with a licensed NPGA Judge to proctor the written exam. Contact the JTC Chair, Kevin Kress, to have a written exam sent to the judge proctor of the candidates choice. The JTC Chair will contact you with your scores after the test has been received and corrected. A candidate may re-take the exam no less than 10 days apart.

 

Judging Clinic and JE Schedule

*Saturday June 9:  Judging Clinic starts at 8:30am with registration of the candidates and followed by the Judges Clinic. The end time shall be when all of the material scheduled for that day is complete, approx. 5pm.

*Sunday June 10: Judging Clinic starts at 8:30am. The end time shall be when all of the material scheduled for that day is complete, approx. 5pm.

*Monday June 11: All candidates must meet at 8:30 am for the beginning of the test classes.

*Tuesday June 12: The start time for this day shall be announced on Monday. Testing will require most of the day with passing candidates to receive their licenses at the end of the day.

** Each day breaks and lunch times shall be provided.

 

Judging Manual

The written test and the JE test classes are based from the NPGA Judging Manual, the Showmanship Manual, and the illustrated standard of the Pygmy Goat. All merchandise is available online in the NPGA shop. Observers will not be tested, but may learn more if these publications are reviewed prior to assisting with the Clinic and Exam.

 

Judging Clinic for Auditors

 

The judging Clinic shall be open to Auditors on MONDAY only. A total of 10 auditors shall be allowed to attend these two days. Auditors shall be working with the NPGA judges that are in attendance to complete their ConEd requirements. Please contact the JTC Chair for more information and registration.

 

Fees

 

The written exam fee is $25 for each time a candidate takes the exam. The candidate fee is $100 for the Judging Clinic and a $50 fee for the JE. Total for Clinic and JE shall be $150. Auditor fee for the Judging Clinic is $100. Judges pay NO fee for the ConEd. All of these fees have been set by the NPGA Board of Directors.
